PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The idea and development of this series began when photographer and friend Alessandro Belgiojoso engaged Cassola in the study of the sky vault, the tholos of La Gurfa, with its central oculus in the ceiling, and the cave complex's close links with the Roden Crater of artist James Turrell. Cassola aimed to catch the lights and landscapes of some of the most remote areas of Sicily all along the journey that led her to La Gurfa Cave.
