PROJECT DESCRIPTION

 

“Driven by the urge to provide an alternative approach to the compulsive, excessive evolution of metropolis in contemporary time which grow at the expenses of personal identities space and sense of community, my photo work Liquid City analyses the best features of the city's solid architectures and interprets them with pure imagination. The result is a virtual reality where diversity is needed, creativity and innovation are nurtured. For a future, more adequate, cultural, physical and social urban setting. 

In Invisible cities (1986), by Italian philosopher Italo Calvino, the Venetian traveler Marco Polo recounts stories about the several cities he has seen during his travels. He tells of cities of memories, cities of dreams, of thin cities and wide cities, of trading cities and cities of desires, signs, and eyes, cities of names, and hidden cities. At one point it becomes clear that all these fantastic cities are nothing else then the same place. 

When the Tartan Emperor Kublai Khan cannot see any hope of getting out of the “inferno" that his crumbling empire is going thorough Polo tells him:

 
 

There are two ways to escape suffering it. The first is easy for many: accept the inferno and become such a part of it that you can no longer see it. The second is risky and demands constant vigilance and apprehension: seek and learn to recognize who and what, in the midst of the inferno, are not inferno, then make them endure, give them space".
