MY BACK-STORY

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

“From 2012 to 2014 I travelled through Chile and Brazil exploring and researching on some of the most popular shamanic rituals, esoteric traditions, spiritual cults and ancient myths. What they have in common is that they all provide help in achieving benefits and solving problems in health, love, money affairs. And who does not need some help? I experienced some of the practices, I interviewed members, healers and sages. What fascinates me is the energy and healing aspects and the strong connection between the mind and the body control, the influence they have on thoughts and actions. My back-story is a Western woman interpretation of this anthropological quest in combination with a very intimate and personal experience. In this live performance act ancient processes are combined with theatrical techniques, improvised sounds and powerful music (O' Superman, by Laurie Anderson) to fight, dominate, deal with my inner profound self, until I reach a sort of harmonic connection with the outside world. I then gather all energies to dominate obstacles, boundaries, difficulties. At this moment I invite my audience to trust my lead with closed eyes and, with a sort of "banjo de descarrego" (an energetic shower of body release) and the help of other performers, I offer a chance to experience a similar healing sense of life-freedom and mind/body release”.
