PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Body_rope (2011) investigates identity and how social systems define and construct that identity. It explores the questions of gender and the inherent pluralities within cultural experience and societal structure. From Science to Psychology, through structuralist and post structuralist theories Cassola starts from the notion that one’s behavior, sense of self and actions towards others is, more or less consciously, created through the way society operates. Thus this work investigates the ways to bypass any constructed identity (here represented by a 10kg rope) in order to reach a higher sense of self: the inner essential self (represented by the naked body) and freedom.
